"Content precedes design. Design in the absence of content is not design, it’s decoration." — Jeffrey Zeldman
Risking aging myself, I first began tinkering with computers in the late 80s at the age of 7 -- back when floppy disks were actually floppy and DOS was the pinnacle of personal computing. In 1995, I designed my first personal website (complete with animated "under construction" GIFs and (what I thought were) awesome WAV files automatically playing in the background).
Sure, it was just as horrid as most websites were back then, but being able to begin working with HTML in its infancy has given me a unique perspective on website design and its technical and aesthetic progression over the years.
Since then, I have worked on hundreds of web projects for a wide variety of people and businesses.
While other designers initially focus on aesthetics, my design philosophy is to analyze the business first; then think about how best to engage the audience and build trust with the user so that ultimately, the final product results in a website that not only looks great -- but also converts visitors into customers.
I currently reside, work, and play in beautiful Portsmouth, NH with my wife Kari and our son Donovan.
